A Creative Strategist with focus on design, technology, and storytelling, Tara Tan has led several projects and teams in design and innovation. One of these was Songbird (2012), an ambitious iOS narrative app that fused adventure, technology, music, and film. Called a “gamechanger” by Today newspaper, it premiered at the Singapore Arts Festival 2012.
At Harvard Graduate School of Design, her research centres on culture, technology, and cities. Her background as a journalist and advertising creative for various global accounts has given her the opportunity to listen to the stories of people living in very different worlds. She has directed a number of documentary films, such as For Our Tomorrow (2010), a documentary on Hope Schools in rural China, and Mrs Santha Bhaskar (2010), which premiered at the Shanghai World Expo 2010. She graduated with First Class (hons) from the University of Bristol, UK.
