Smitha is a second-year MD student at Harvard Medical School with interests at the intersection of business, government, and clinical medicine. She was born in Johns Creek, Georgia, where she grew up with her parents, two siblings, and maternal grandparents. Growing up, she spent summers in Chennai, India where she trained in Indian classical music and dance. She attended the University of Georgia, where she studied Anthropology and Biology with a focus on public health issues. Spending hours in clinic waiting rooms with her grandparents and volunteering in free clinics around Georgia introduced her to the complexities and gaps that exist in the U.S. healthcare system. In her free time, Smitha loves to run and spend time with family and friends.
