Scott March Smith is an MArch I candidate in his fourth and final year at the Graduate School of Design. Before studying architecture, Scott studied and taught music in western Massachusetts, campaigned for progressive politicians in the southern California desert, and advocated for LGBT equality in Washington, DC. His master’s thesis, presented in January 2017, focused on using the performance practices of improvised music as a method of producing space and architecture. Scott holds a BA in Music from Amherst College, where he studied bass performance and music composition. Scott is a native of the suburbs of Washington, DC, and is deeply interested in interdisciplinary approaches to design and the built environment.
