Phoebe Yu is a second-year student at Harvard Law School. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, she graduated from Cornell University with a major in Industrial and Labor Relations. She was a visiting student at St. Catherine’s College, Oxford. Prior to law school, she worked at an investment bank in New York and at the Supreme Court in Washington D.C.
At HLS, Phoebe serves as a student attorney for Harvard Defenders, where she represents indigent defendants at criminal show cause hearings in the Massachusetts courts. She also volunteered at Greater Boston Legal Services, where she provided bilingual direct legal services to clients in housing, immigration, employment, and welfare law. Her areas of interest include access to legal aid for the low-income population, the intersection of labor and immigration issues, and global anti-corruption.
In her spare time, Phoebe enjoys curling (she plays for Harvard), poutine, Tim Horton’s coffee, and fulfilling Canadian stereotypes.
