Philip Johnston is a dual MBA/MPA student at The Wharton School and Harvard Kennedy School. Philip is a British and Irish national, also spending 5 years of his early childhood in Cape Town, South Africa. Before graduate school, he worked in venture capital in Cape Town for a year and before that as a trader for five years, splitting his time between Singapore, London, and New York. Prior to that, Philip completed a master’s degree in Mathematical Finance at Columbia University and spent time at the United Nations headquarters in New York and at Goldman Sachs in London. Over summer 2017, Philip interned in Nairobi, Kenya at impact investment firm Blue Haven Initiative, making early stage VC investments into East African start-ups with a positive social mission such as improving access to solar energy and financial inclusion. Philip is the youngest of five brothers and an identical twin!
