Otgonbat Barkhuu is a Mason Fellow in the MC/MPA program at HKS. His background is in education, and he worked as an advisor to the Education Minister of Mongolia before coming to Harvard. He is also the founder and chairman of board of a private university called the Global Leadership University, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in business and health sciences. Otgonbat received his undergraduate degree from Dickinson State University in North Dakota and is a graduate degree from the University of Queensland in Australia. For the past eight years, he has served as the National Executive Member of the Democratic Party of Mongolia, the current ruling party and held various senior positions within the Mongolian Government including Chief Operating Officer of the Millennium Challenge Account-Mongolia, an agency that successfully implemented a 285M dollar project on reducing poverty in Mongolia. He has written several books on studying and winning scholarships in the United States (best-seller and published 5th edition) and Taiwan (first edition) and currently is working on his third book on Mongolia’s development challenges and opportunities.
