Maura Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald_MauraA native of California, Maura Fitzgerald has traveled independently in nearly 50 countries. Along the way, she has written about West African immigrant communities in Paris and Barcelona, taught first grade in New Orleans, worked with asylum seekers in San Francisco, studied the response to the Syrian refugee crisis in Amman and learned six languages. Her photographs and writing have appeared in publications including The Oxford American, Southern Cultures and Guernica Daily. A 2008 summa cum laude graduate of Yale University, Maura is currently completing a Master in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, where she focuses on migration, child welfare and social entrepreneurship.
