Matheus Fernandes, SEAS

Matheus Fernandes is a Brazilian native from Rio de Janeiro. He has lived in Brazil, Germany, Texas, Ohio, and Massachusetts. He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Business Management and Electrical Engineering. Matheus graduated in May 2015 with a Masters of Engineering in Engineering Sciences from the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). He is now pursuing a PhD in Applied Mathematics with secondary field in Computational Science and Engineering at Harvard SEAS. His overarching research interests involve numerical modeling of mechanics and fluids in a vast array of settings. Currently, his research projects comprise a combination of theoretical, computational and experimental methods to understand the non-linear behavior of materials and structures. Since beginning his multidisciplinary career, he has valued working with people and leading projects at companies such as Bayer Material Science (now Covestro) and COMSOL Multiphysics.
