Maritza Torres is an Ed.M. School Leadership candidate. She is currently in her ninth year as an educator as a Principal Intern at the K-8 Hurley Dual Language School in Boston. Previously she was a school administrator at the highest performing open enrollment charter network in Chicago; the Noble Network of Charter Schools, UIC College Prep. She was part of the administrative team at UICCP as Dean of Operations for three years contributing to the development and implementing of school strategy and culture for student success while leading the management of operations for the school. Prior she was the founding Physical Education department chair and led the development of scope, sequence, and vision for Physical Education at the school as well as supported team members with instructional coaching. Maritza began her career in education teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language with Teach for America St. Louis. Maritza is passionate about educational equity and interested in urban education reform. During her free time she values spending time with loved ones and a great comedy show or play.
