Juliana Ratner is a J.D. candidate at Harvard Law School. She is interested in methods of justice that lessen our reliance on a carceral state, and in detaching profit motives from systems of mass incarceration. Prior to law school, Juliana was the Program Director for Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop, an organization that works with youth charged and incarcerated as adults at the Washington, D.C. Jail. She also worked as an investigative fellow at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, where she assisted felony trial attorneys in all areas of investigation. Born and raised in the D.C. area, Juliana holds a BA in anthropology from Warren Wilson College, a work college in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. She loves travel, unassigned reading, and Argentine tango.
