Jay Kumar is a first-year student at Harvard Medical School. Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he graduated in May 2012 with honors from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Medical Sciences and minors in Medical Humanities and General Business. While at OU, Jay spent two years creating innovative solutions to cataract blindness in rural China, and he led a team in developing a commercialization plan for a therapeutic device targeted at infants with developmental delays. He briefly studied classical archaeology at Brasenose College of Oxford University. He is interested in learning medicine well, while exploring the broader Harvard graduate school community. Jay is a big fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he enjoys playing and discovering new music, and traveling with friends.
