Chris is an EdM candidate at HGSE. He spent his childhood growing up in Nashville, Tennessee. While studying economics at Middle Tennessee State University, he grew eager to see more of the world. In pursuit of that, he studied abroad in Caen, France and then spent a semester interning for the US Department of State in Washington, DC. He finished up his studies a year early, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and moved to Natal, Brazil for the summer following graduation. After that, he headed to Daegu, South Korea to teach English. Fifteen months later, he picked up his backpack and struck out on an eleven-month journey that took him through South Asia, South Africa, and South America–stopping off occasionally to teach, work, and volunteer.
Once back in the US, Chris made the jump to San Francisco as an early employee at the ed-tech startup, Magoosh. While he loved the startup culture and the team, he felt the itch to not just see more, but to do more. He spent six months back in France before heading to Harvard. There, he’s been focused on entrepreneurship and scaling organizations in education as well as other sectors, particularly in a developing context.
